Florida State freshman linebacker Ethan Pritchard remains in stable condition at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital after being shot in the back of the head Sunday night.

According to his father Earl Pritchard, the incident happened while Ethan was driving his aunt home from a family gathering in Havana, Florida, about 16 miles outside Tallahassee near the Georgia border.

“He was actually in the car taking my sister around the corner to her daughter’s house to drop her off,” Earl told WFTV in Orlando. “They turned the corner, and as soon as they did, they heard gunshots.” Doctors continue to monitor swelling in Ethan’s head.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office are leading the investigation.

Florida State head coach Mike Norvell said Wednesday that he was able to briefly visit Ethan at the hospital and has stayed in close contact with the Pritchard family.

Please keep the Pritchard family in your prayers.
