Home Assistant 2025.9 is now available. This latest version of the open-source smart home software adds an automation editor sidebar or pop-up, as well as a range of new tile card features. Plus, there is a new experimental Home dashboard and several integrations, including the Sleep as Android app.

The Home Assistant 2025.9 release has arrived. It follows the open-source smart home automation’s August update, which brought a new AI Task integration and changes for the Areas dashboard.

With Home Assistant 2025.9, there is an improvement to make it easier to create automations. Now, when users go to alter an automation, a new sidebar appears; previously, the automation would expand instead. This allows you to view the automation in the left portion of your screen, while applying changes in the sidebar on the right. On mobile, the sidebar is replaced by a resizable pop-up.

The latest version of Home Assistant also brings a new experimental Home dashboard, which the company hopes will become the new default option in the future. This dashboard shows Summaries, groups of smart home products, and Areas, for various rooms in your home, allowing you to quickly navigate to the relevant section. Plus, you can use Favourites to pin your most used entities to the top of the dashboard. There is a range of new tile card features, including a trend chart, media player controls and a bar gauge.

Home Assistant 2025.9 brings new integrations for Seko water treatment systems, ToGrill Bluetooth BBQ thermometers and Genie Aladdin Connect smartphone garage door openers (Aladdin Connect Kit curr. $64.99 at Amazon). On top of this, the Sleep as Android app integration means you can now trigger automations with a connected alarm clock or another sleep cycle-related event. The complete change log for Home Assistant 2025.9 can be found on the company’s blog.
