Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens hinted that the team might make a trade to improve the roster before the 2026 NBA trade deadline, but kept his recent comments vague enough that what he said could be seen a few ways.
Will the Celtics look to push their chips back in again with star forward Jayson Tatum looking like he will get back on the court this season from a torn Achilles tendon sustained in the 2025 NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals? Or will they look to make some more modest moves around the margins? Might they get two goals accomplished at the same time by dealing for cheaper players to lessen the cap hit and work toward getting out of the tax?
