Los Angeles Rams star receiver Puka Nacua believes Drake Maye is one of the top three quarterbacks in the NFL right now.
The New England Patriots quarterback has been closely linked with Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford as one of the top MVP candidates for the 2025 season. When appearing on social media influencer Adin Ross’ Kick channel, Nacua was asked to name his top three quarterbacks, with the caveat being that Stafford is No. 1.
“It’s got to be Drake Maye. That guy’s playing out of his mind right now,” Nacua said. “Somebody said they call him Drake ‘Drake Maye’ Maye.”
Maye’s new nickname, which was given to him by fans, appears to be traveling the world fast and sticking.
The second-year quarterback has shown tremendous promise at only 23 years old. Keep in mind, he doesn’t have a true No. 1 receiver, and he has played most of the season with two rookies starting on the left side of the offensive line. He doesn’t have the experience and embarrassment of offensive riches that Stafford is working with in Los Angeles, either.
Yet, he has 3,567 passing yards, 23 touchdowns and seven interceptions on the year, with three games left to go. The praise that he’s receiving from his peers, including a truly elite receiving talent like Nacua, has been well-earned.
