The Los Angeles Rams went into Thursday night’s game without the league leader in touchdown receptions, Davante Adams. It was a big loss, but it’s also not the primary reason the Rams lost the game to the Seattle Seahawks in overtime.
Los Angeles got valuable contributions from a handful of replacements at wide receiver, led by rookie Konata Mumpfield. Looking at the snap counts from Thursday night, we can see the Rams turned to Mumpfield in Adams’ place, just as they did after Adams went down last week. Tutu Atwell, meanwhile, was once again a non-factor in his second game back.
On defense, the Rams shuffled their cornerback group slightly against the Seahawks, while also leaning more on their base personnel to counter Seattle’s offensive plan. Here’s a full look at the snap counts from Thursday’s loss.
Offense

Mumpfield is next man up: With Adams out, Mumpfield was the Rams’ No. 2 receiver. He played 46% of the snaps, 22% more than the next-closest receiver. Puka Nacua led the way with a 78% snap share, of course, but it was Mumpfield who got opportunities as the No. 2 option.
Rams lean on Williams over Corum: A week after Kyren Williams and Blake Corum had their narrowest snap difference of the season, they had one of their widest. Williams played 71% of the snaps compared to 29% for Corum. Corum ran the ball 14 times and was targeted twice on his 27 snaps, so he was involved when he was on the field. Williams carried it 23 times and caught three passes for 15 yards.
Atwell still a non-factor: After playing only four snaps in his first game back last week, Tutu Atwell’s role was still minimal on Thursday night. He played just eight snaps in the loss, seeing zero targets thrown his way.
Defense

Fiske likely wasn’t fully healthy: Braden Fiske went into the game listed as questionable due to an ankle injury and he played just 31% of the snaps, below his season average. He likely wasn’t fully healthy, leading to his reduced role. He had zero tackles, pressures or sacks against the Seahawks.
CB group sees slight shuffling: Emmanuel Forbes Jr. had been playing the most snaps of any cornerback on the team, but he dropped to No. 2 in the pecking order behind Cobie Durant. Darious Williams saw a bigger role with a 50% snap share and Josh Wallace’s role shrunk a bit, playing only 46% of the snaps after playing at least 73% in the last two weeks. Derion Kendrick made his season debut, too, playing five snaps.
Stewart and Johnson split time as OLB3: Josaiah Stewart and Desjuan Johnson have both been getting playing time as the third edge rusher behind Jared Verse and Byron Young. They played 11 and 10 snaps, respectively, seeing only a few opportunities with Verse and Young playing most of the game.
