Watch: Patriots WR Efton Chism III gets first NFL touchdown vs. Jets

Everybody got in on the action in the New England Patriots‘ dominant Week 17 win over the New York Jets, including undrafted rookie wide receiver Efton Chism III.

After recording his first NFL reception, Chism went on to record his first NFL touchdown in Sunday’s game. It came on a 10-yard pass from quarterback Drake Maye, who rolled out of the pocket and connected with Chism in the end zone while on the move.

It was Maye’s fifth touchdown pass of the game.

Chism stepped up and took full advantage of the opportunities given to him with veteran wide receivers Mack Hollins and Kayshon Boutte both out for the game. Fans have patiently waited for the young wideout to show what he can do in games, and he did not disappoint in the team’s 42-10 win over the Jets.

One would expect this performance to lead to more opportunities in the future for Chism. Hollins was placed on injured reserve, while Boutte was in concussion protocol. The Patriots might not be loaded with big names at the receiver position, but they have a lot of mouths to feed.

The availability of Boutte could ultimately determine whether Chism is active again in Week 18.
