The View host Whoopi Goldberg clapped back at Secretary of Health Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Dr. Mehmet Oz after the pair announced new changes to the national food and alcohol guidelines.
Kennedy announced the new 2025-2030 U.S. Dietary Guidelines for Americans which notably removed the limit of daily alcoholic drinks and instead suggests adults should “consume less alcohol for better overall health.” The View shared a clip from the a press conference where Dr. Oz described alcohol as a “social lubricant that brings people together.”
“In the best case scenario, I don’t think you should drink alcohol,” he says in the clip. “But it does allow people an excuse to kind of socialize and there’s probably nothing healthier than having a good time with friends in a safe way.”
“So does weed!” Goldberg fired back. “That’s a lubricant too.”
Joy Behar also joked that she wasn’t so sure about Dr. Oz’s new advice. “I’m not an expert on sex but it’s not a good lubricant,” she joked. “I’ll tell you that right now.”
Kennedy also announced new federal dietary guidelines that promotes eating healthy fats and protein-rich meals, including red meat and full-fat dairy, while limiting highly processed foods.
Goldberg did not address Kennedy’s guidelines directly, however, she advised viewers “stick with” what their doctors recommend. But Sunny Hostin did not mince her words as she explained why she won’t be following Kennedy’s guidelines.

“He’s the least qualified health secretary we’ve ever had in the history of the United States of America in my view,” she stated, earning applause from the audience. “I just can’t listen t o any of the guidelines. I don’t trust them and I hate to say that as someone who worked for the government.”
However, she was certainly “interested” in Dr. Oz’s new guidelines regarding alcohol consumption.
“I will like to say, as someone that likes to indulge in a glass of wine now and then, I was interested in the fact that now it’s a social lubricant, it’s okay for me to have my Belle Glos and it’s okay for me to have my champagne and my rosé,” she joked.
Behar, on the other hand, asked if Kennedy’s new food pyramid was missing anything.
“Where’s roadkill on that pyramid?” she quipped.
