Joe Cullen’s interview with the Baltimore Ravens took place on Sunday, January 25, 2026, which was Championship Sunday.
Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reported that the Ravens completed their interview with Cullen on Sunday. Two days earlier, on Friday, January 23, it was reported that Baltimore had contacted the Kansas City Chiefs to request an interview with Cullen for their defensive coordinator position.
At the time, it was unclear when — or if — the interview would take place. With a major winter storm impacting the area over the weekend, there was uncertainty about whether the meeting would be delayed or held virtually. Since the interview ultimately happened on Sunday, it was most likely done virtually.
Cullen previously coached in Baltimore from 2016 to 2020 as the Ravens’ defensive line coach and is currently in the same role with the Chiefs. He brings extensive NFL experience and has been part of successful defensive units, making him an intriguing candidate as the Ravens continue to build their new coaching staff.
New Ravens head coach Jesse Minter and Cullen have worked together in Baltimore, so the interview was likely an opportunity for both sides to reconnect, evaluate fit, and discuss how Cullen could potentially fit into Minter’s vision for the defense.
Hiring experienced coaches familiar with the organization would provide Minter with valuable support as a first-time head coach and help maintain continuity as the Ravens transition into a new era.
