The Indianapolis Colts reportedly remain committed to ex-New York Giant Daniel Jones as their starting quarterback moving forward.
The Colts signed Jones to a one-year, $14 million contract last March. The 28-year-old started all 13 games he appeared in for Indianapolis during the 2025 season. He completed a career-high 68% of his passes for 3,101 yards, with a 19-8 touchdown-to-interception ratio. His passing yards marked the second-highest total of his career in any single season.

Jones displayed a level of polish absent from his final years with the Giants, where turnovers plagued him (evidenced by his 10-13 TD-INT ratio across 2023-24).
Multiple ESPN insiders report that the Colts are prepared to proceed with Jones as their starting QB, supported by a clear organizational hierarchy.
Jones’ breakout 2025 performance earned him the majority of starts over Anthony Richardson, who is expected to be traded.
The Colts placed Richardson on injured reserve (IR) in Week 6 due to an orbital bone fracture sustained before their matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. Richardson’s only appearances came in Weeks 3 and 5, with Jones starting over the Florida native in both contests.

Richardson had started 11 games for Indianapolis in 2024, completing a career-low 47.7% of his passes for 1,814 yards. He has yet to achieve a completion percentage of 60% or higher in his three-year career.
Riley Leonard will serve as Jones’ full-time backup. The South Carolina native completed 58.2% of his passes as a rookie in 2025.
