Social media reaction to the first-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys, Tyler Booker

With the 12th pick in the 2025 NFL draft, the Dallas Cowboys select offensive guard Tyler Booker from Alabama.

The Cowboys media reacted to the pick, and the fact not many had the team making this pick.

Cowboys are drafting former Alabama guard Tyler Booker with the No. 12 overall pick, source said.

The Cowboys took a guard…Tyler Booker.
I was wrong. Flame me

The Cowboys are using the 12th overall pick to draft Alabama OG Tyler Booker

Cowboys officials like Booker’s size (6-4, 321 pounds) and his physicality and his smarts. Projected as right guard.

Tyler Booker’s enthusiasm is fun to watch and contagious. Youth and strength on the interior give them no excuse to not have a thriving run game this year.

Jane Slater gave some interesting notes on Booker.

#Cowboys pick Tyler Booker works with OL guru @BigDuke50 who works with some of the league’s best and heads up OL Masterminds when I asked him what stands out about Booker he tells me “Leader who will hold people accountable. He’s a relentless worker.” And from @BaldyNFL pic.twitter.com/0C3irzZ8fn

Despite the merits of Booker, there is a question as to whether the team took the guard position too early in the draft.

There is a reason the rest of the NFL laughs at the #Cowboys front office.

Taking a guard-only at No. 12 is just bad drafting. Even if he hits.

If the Cowboys have to stick at No. 12, Alabama G Tyler Booker will be in that mix. A third Tyler for the Cowboys’ OL?

How did Cowboys fans react to the pick? Not quite the reaction it would have been with an offensive weapon at the skill positions.

The Cowboys have re-invested in their offensive line in recent drafts. Here is how it now stands.

Guyton, Smith, Beebe, Booker, Steele

Win in the trenches. The game is won at the line of scrimmage!

Tyler Booker is a fine pick. Dominant in the run game! Moves people off the ball. Can get to the second level. Smooth athlete in space for his size. Super powerful! pic.twitter.com/OMbh7Yu5j8

Team owner Jerry Jones had some comments on the pick. The Cowboys are determined to run the ball this year and they think Booker is a big piece of that.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on Tuesday: “We’ve had some success loading it up with top picks in the offensive line. … I don’t think running back was as significant (of an issue) last year…I think it was our offensive line that was the bigger impact on the running back situation.”

And we had a take from our head coach, Brian Schottenheimer, on his first draft pick.

Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer on the draft call with first-round pick OG Tyler Booker: “You blew us away in the process. You just come here and be you. You kick ass. Welcome to the family. We’re so fired up.”

Here’s what our BTB staff had to say on the pick.

The Dallas Cowboys have drafted three offensive linemen in the first round over the last four years

2022: TYLER Smith
2024: TYLER Guyton
2025: TYLER Booker

The Cowboys have a quarterback who needs to stay upright.
They have a new head coach who wants to run the football.
They have a new offensive coordinator who is masterful at doing it.

And now, this is their new interior offensive line. Who’s mad? pic.twitter.com/xTBdXma8os

Tyler Booker describes his play style as “legal assault.”

Booker has also said, “I make guys not love football anymore.”

Zack Martin leaves, they find that replacement with Tyler Booker.
Only two career sacks on over 1,000 pass blocking sets.

Last season he allowed zero sacks and only 7 pressures.

Played right guard, left guard and left tackle in Alabama. #DallasCowboys

Is this the next Zack Martin in 2014 pick?

— Jess Haynie (@CowboysAddicts) April 25, 2025

Kinda funny they signed like 9 guards in free agency and then drafted one with a premium pick lol
