Reviving manufacturing is a cornerstone of President Donald Trump’s economic platform. A strong manufacturing sector is indeed critical to national security, innovation, and economic resilience—including its potential to create more working-class jobs. But manufacturing alone cannot restore broad-based U.S. prosperity.
