It wasn’t the prettiest game, but Alabama got the job done. Playing against an LSU team that was playing its first game since firing Brian Kelly presented some unknowns for the Tide. We knew the Tigers would come out with good energy, but how long would it last?
Alabama held steady throughout the entire game, never letting LSU get momentum to take control of the game. That being said, it wasn’t the Tide’s best game. Ty Simpson made nice throws, but there were also some passes that he felt got away from him, too.
Winning a rivalry game will always feel good, and it kept the Crimson Tide tied for first in the SEC. It also gave them a slight boost to their chances of making the College Football Playoff.

The win gave them a bump up to 97%, all but guaranteeing this team has a spot in the postseason tournament. A loss would have done more damage, knocking them down to 78.4%.

The Tide then gets their annual bye week against Eastern Illinois, where they’ll fine-tune things before their final game of the regular season. While the Auburn Tigers fired their head coach and haven’t had the best year, it’s still a rivalry game with its own challenges.
Should the Tide win out, they have the SEC Championship Game too. That game, as of right now, will be against Texas A&M, but a loss shouldn’t impact the Tide’s playoff chances if they win the rest of their regular-season games. They control their own destiny.
