Jessica Pegula Reveals How Sister’s Engagement Was Unintentionally Hard-Launched

Jessica Pegula’s sister, Kelly, has taken the next step in her relationship by announcing her engagement to her partner shortly after Thanksgiving. The former World No. 3 recently revealed how she unintentionally “hard-launched” this news to her fans.

Pegula’s billionaire parents, Terry and Kim Pegula, are co-owners of the Buffalo Bills in the NFL and the Buffalo Sabres in the NHL. Terry has two children, Michael and Laura, from a previous marriage, and then welcomed Jessica, along with her siblings Kelly and Matthew, with Kim.

Jessica Pegula Reveals How She “Hard-Launched” Sister Kelly’s Engagement After Thanksgiving Dinner

After completing her 2025 tennis season at the WTA Finals in Riyadh, Pegula took some time off the court. She hosted her charity’s first annual gala, spent Thanksgiving with her loved ones, and did much more. She has since resumed playing by participating in two exhibition tournaments in Newark and Miami.

After Thanksgiving, Pegula shared a series of pictures on social media featuring herself, her husband Taylor Gahagen, her family, siblings, and fellow tennis players Jennifer Brady and Desirae Krawczyk, among others. Among the photos, there’s one of Pegula and Kelly, where Kelly is seen flaunting her engagement ring, thus revealing the engagement news.

In a recent episode of the podcast ‘The Player’s Box’ with Madison Keys, Brady, and Krawczyk, Pegula mentioned that Kelly got engaged the day before Thanksgiving and has been “very excited” about it.

“My sister got engaged the day before Thanksgiving, so she’s very excited about that,” Pegula said.

Pegula’s fellow podcast host and close friend, Krawczyk, chimed in, sharing that she and Kelly had attended a Buffalo Sabres game. During the event, Krawczyk took a selfie with Kelly, who was intentionally showing off her engagement ring.

When Krawczyk said she would post the picture on social media and people would learn about Kelly’s engagement, Kelly was okay with it.

“I didn’t even think of that. I was like, “Oh my god.” Well, she put it so in the photo we were at the [Buffalo] Sabres game, and she’s (Kelly) like (showing off the engagement ring), and I was like, “Well, I’m going to post this,” Krawczyk said.

Pegula mentioned that during Thanksgiving dinner, Kelly, enthusiastic about her engagement, kept showing off her ring, and many of the pictures they took prominently featured the ring.

The former World No. 3 even informed Kelly that she wouldn’t be able to edit the ring out of the photos, meaning everyone would find out about the engagement. Pegula stated that this is how she “hard-launched” Kelly’s engagement.

“She kept doing it. In every picture I have of her, she is like this (showing off the engagement ring) for the entire week. And I’m like, well, I can’t edit this out. So, you’re just getting hard-launched with the engagement,” Pegula added.

On the tennis side of things, Pegula finished her year with three titles: the ATX Open, Charleston Open, and Bad Homburg Open. She also had runner-up finishes at the Adelaide International, Miami Open, and Wuhan Open.
