OnePlus has started a new smartphone series with the launch of the OnePlus Turbo 6. Joined by the cheaper Turbo 6V, the Turbo 6 challenges the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro, Poco F7 and other upper-midrange smartphones with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, a 165 Hz AMOLED display and a whopping 9,000 mAh battery capacity.
OnePlus has now kicked off its new Turbo smartphone series after teasing its existence almost a month ago. As expected, the company has presented the Turbo 6 and Turbo 6V simultaneously, albeit only in China for now.
The more expensive of the two, the Turbo 6 leverages the same Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset as upper mid-range smartphones like the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro, Nothing Phone (3) and the Poco F7 (curr. $529 on Amazon). Additionally, OnePlus complements the 8-core and 4 nm chip with LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.1 flash storage and a 9,000 mAh battery that supports 80 W charging via its USB 2.0 Type-C port. Moreover, the Turbo 6 features a 6.78-inch, 2,772 x 1,272-pixel, 1,800 nit and 165 Hz AMOLED display plus the following camera hardware inside its 217 g housing:
- 50 MP primary camera, f/1.8 aperture, 26 mm equivalent focal length, OIS
- 2 MP monochrome auxiliary camera, f/2.4 aperture, 22 mm equivalent focal length
- 16 MP front-facing camera, f/2.4 aperture, 23 mm equivalent focal length
The Turbo 6 officially starts at CNY 2,299 (~$329) with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. However, OnePlus has discounted the device at launch to CNY 2,099 (~$300) in its black, silver and green colour options. Alternatively, the device can be configured with 512 GB of storage and or 16 GB of RAM for up to CNY 3,099 (~$445) or CNY 2,899 (~$415) during the device’s pre-sale period. There is no word on international availability yet, though.
