The Cincinnati Bengals have a few different things to track during the NFL coaching hiring cycle right now.
One is the future of offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor has granted him permission to seek coordinator jobs with other teams that permit him to call plays.
Wednesday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced that they had completed a virtual interview with Pitcher for their coordinator position.
The other name to watch is former Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan.

Callahan is a candidate to return to the Bengals, should they end up losing Pitcher. But he’s also on the market and keeping his options open.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, Callahan will have a second interview with those same Buccaneers on Thursday for their coordinator spot.
So, two Bengals coaches, one opening. For whoever doesn’t get the job (if not both), they’ll still be candidates for other spots around the NFL.
All the Bengals can do is wait. If Pitcher takes a job elsewhere, the Bengals could reel in Callahan for a reunion. But Callahan could also take up one of the jobs, keeping Pitcher in Cincinnati.
It’s more interesting from a Bengals perspective than anyone would have predicted, considering the team is running it back with the same staff. Or at least trying to, anyway.
