Baseball “future Hall of Famer” Max Scherzer and his wife, Erica, are listing their Jupiter, Florida home for a grand $36 million in exclusive Admiral’s Cove, Gimme Shelter can reveal.
The legendary pitcher, 41, last played in the World Series for the Toronto Blue Jays — and he wants another shot. Scherzer recently told the Athletic that he is “healthy and ready to sign at any moment if certain teams call.” (That could mean the Yankees, sources said.)
The Scherzers bought the Florida property in 2023 as a tear-down and are in the process of building a custom waterfront estate that was to be their “dream house.” It’s slated for completion later this year or early next.
“They love the house, and they were planning to move in. But then they toured Atlantic Fields, the Discovery Land Company property in Hobe Sound, and they pivoted,” a source said. “They fell in love with the acreage offered, which is similar to what they had in New York during Max’s time with the Mets,” the source added.
The five-bedroom, 8.5-bath property boasts natural stone and organic materials. It features 325 feet of wraparound Intracoastal waterfront with a new seawall and a raised, corner lot that’s one of the highest in the community. It all sits on .67 of an acre.
Outside, there’s a design-forward infinity pool with a glass enclosure, as well as a summer kitchen with a pizza oven. There’s also a new dock that can accommodate a boat up to 88 feet.
Inside, the home features interiors by HGTV alumna Krista Watterworth Alterman, creative director of Krista + Home, who has also been “The Vanilla Ice Project” design expert.
Inside, the residence is anchored by a chef’s kitchen. Extra perks include a guest apartment, a club/flex room, large living spaces and a five car garage.
“Admiral’s Cove is the crown jewel of Jupiter,” said listing broker Holly Meyer Lucas, who shares the listing with her team members, Kimberly Thomson and Courtney Payne — all of Compass. “There are very few places in the US where you can keep a yacht in your backyard, golf and live in luxury all in the same private club. For anyone wanting a gated, waterfront golf community designed for privacy and prestige, Admiral’s Cove is it,” she added.
The Scherzers, who have four children, are known for exquisite taste in real estate. They have purchased nearly everywhere Scherzer has played. Their $15 million home outside of Washington, DC, when Scherzer played with the Nationals, sold in a day in 2021.
They also owned a traditional, Hamptons-style Long Island home in Brookville, which they bought for around $5 million in 2023, when Scherzer was playing for the Mets.
