The Apple iPhone 18 Pro (Max) and the iPhone Ultra are set to be officially unveiled in less than a month. The three smartphones are expected to be the first iPhones to feature a 2-nm ARM chip, which is expected to deliver significant upgrades in terms of performance and power consumption.
The Apple iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Ultra are expected to be officially unveiled in mid-September. Compared to the iPhone 17 Pro ($1,057 on Amazon), a number of significant upgrades are expected, ranging from a main camera with a variable aperture and a smaller punch-hole to the Apple A20 Pro, Apple’s first 2-nm ARM processor.
According to the latest information from the leaker Fixed Focus Digital, while the 2-nm manufacturing process is expected to result in significantly higher production costs, it also offers major advantages in terms of performance and power consumption. According to this information, the chip delivers 18 percent higher performance or 30 percent lower power consumption at comparable performance levels. With this upgrade, the Apple A20 Pro could clearly set itself apart from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and the MediaTek Dimensity 9500, as our benchmarks show.
However, shortly after its launch, the Apple A20 Pro will already be competing with the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the Dimensity 9600. The race for the smartphone performance crown is likely to be close again this year. According to earlier rumors, the Apple A20 Pro offers several additional optimizations. A greater distance between the CPU and GPU cores is said to enable more effective cooling, while LPDDR6 RAM is expected to be connected via a 96-bit interface to achieve higher bandwidth. The AI accelerator is also expected to be more powerful to speed up Siri AI.
