The Brazilian two-sport, two-division world champion who won the then-vacant title last year in a bout with former champ Jiri Prochazka, will defend his crown later this month at UFC 303 in a hastily-arranged rematch with the Czech after injury postponed the originally scheduled headliner between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler.
In Pereira, the UFC have a suitable deputy to the sport’s biggest star. In a UFC career which began less than three years ago, Pereira has already claimed world titles in two divisions, headlined events at Madison Square Garden and UFC 300 in Las Vegas — and will now serve as the primary attraction to the UFC’s annual International Fight Week festivities in Sin City in just his 13th professional mixed martial arts bout.
