Sui blockchain creator Mysten Labs has announced that it’s working on a handheld device that can support web3 and conventional PC games. Dubbed SuiPlay0X1, the device has a pre-order price of $599 and is expected to be shipped to gamers in the first half of 2025. The device will support web3 games powered by the Sui blockchain, a tactic that’s meant to increase the adoption of games on the blockchain.
Early Birds Get Free NFT
In an announcement, Mysten Labs described SuiPlay0X1 as “the first blockchain-based handheld gaming device.” Gamers can pay for the device using either SUI, SOL, or ETH. The first one thousand customers will be gifted an NFT that will “provide special access, rewards, and perks.”

SuiPlay0X1 will be powered by a 7th-generation AMD Ryzen CPU and an AMD graphics processor for a smooth gaming experience. Other features include up to 512 GB internal memory, a 7-inch screen, WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 support, and Playtron GameOS.
According to Mysten Labs co-founder Adeniyi Abiodun, the device will provide a fun and flawless way to play blockchain games. Abiodun added that SuiPlay0X1 will help showcase that web3 games “look and feel no different than traditional web2 games.”
Web3 Gaming Initiatives are Increasing
Sui revealed that more than 1,000 pre-orders for the device have already been placed. Mysten Labs’ move to create a physical web3 gaming console comes as more entities announce initiatives to boost the adoption of blockchain games.

Oasys, for example, recently announced a partnership with Japanese financial giant SBI Holdings to boost blockchain gaming. Solana also collaborated with Google to increase the adoption of web3 games. According to a recent report, blockchain gaming accounts for 33% of web3 activities.
With over 1,000 pre-orders for the SuiPlay0X1 placed within hours, the device is likely to gain mainstream adoption among conventional and web3 gamers.
