The Yankees rotation took a hit Sunday, as they put Ryan Yarbrough on the 15-day IL with a right oblique strain.
Yarbrough provided unexpected stabilization to the rotation in the wake of injuries to Gerrit Cole and Luis Gil, as well as Marcus Stroman.
Stroman has been on a rehab assignment after being sidelined with left knee inflammation.
Allan Winans, who has pitched well at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, was scheduled to start Sunday for SWB and could take Yarbrough’s spot on Monday in Cincinnati.
JT Brubaker was built up as a starter after recovering from 2023 Tommy John surgery and then fractured ribs suffered during spring training.
He appeared in his first major league game since 2022 on Saturday.
Jayvien Sandridge was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take Yarbrough’s roster spot.
