BJP leader Smriti Irani delivered a sharp political message in West Bengal, grabbing attention by seamlessly switching into fluent Bengali during her address—an effort seen as a direct connect with local voters ahead of elections.
Targeting the ruling TMC, Irani said, “The TMC party lent its support to that opposition party which demanded proof of the Indian Army’s valour in the Indian Parliament. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, India has delivered a befitting reply. Neither TMC nor the entire opposition can deny this.”

On women’s reservation, she underscored the growing political influence of women voters, stating, “In our country, women have contributed significantly across social, economic, and political spheres; consequently, they have emerged as the most assertive voting bloc in the nation.”
Appealing directly to women, Irani added, “I urge you not only to vote in large numbers but also to actively engage once this 33% reservation law comes into effect… If they (Opposition) genuinely desire the protection, dignity, and political emancipation of women, they should support the government’s efforts.”
Ending her speech on a confident note, she asserted, “The ‘Lotus’ will certainly bloom in Bengal…”
