Democrats are in deep trouble when it comes to money going into the midterms.
That’s on top of the internal drama, the phone-throwing, and the tantrums, according to the latest scoop on the Democratic National Committee (DNC).
As we reported earlier, it appears to be so tight, they’re asking vendors not to send bills until after the midterm elections. While the Republican National Committee is sitting on nearly $130 million, the DNC is $2 million in debt. They also reportedly had stopped transferring the millions they usually send to sister committees responsible for winning the House and Senate, because they were so short on cash.
The Democratic National Committee put its physical headquarters up for collateral last year in order to obtain a $15 million line of credit to help invest in off-year elections, according to D.C. deed records not previously reported.
The building, located in Southeast Washington and partially owned by the DNC, has been used as collateral in the past, including in other election cycles. That the DNC had to do so again ahead of the 2026 elections to obtain its biggest-ever off-year loan raised concerns among some members that it was further evidence of its intensifying financial strain.
If they can’t cover what they have to with the fundraising and they have to put their headquarters up for collateral, that’s a big issue. This sounds like dire straits.

That is not making some inside the DNC happy.
“Ken gaslighting us about the DNC’s finances and not being transparent about the financial situation makes us doubt if he can oversee the DNC during the most important primary of our lifetime,” said a DNC member, granted anonymity to discuss the issue candidly.

We reported earlier that Martin allegedly threw a phone at a desk while he was yelling at an aide.
One DNC source said, “It’s just f***ing unacceptable. This is spiraling behavior.”
Another source termed it “not surprising.”
“He’s been super paranoid,” said one of the DNC sources of Martin’s recent behavior. “He’s super embattled.”
That source pointed to the fact that DNC officers were asked to sign nondisclosure agreements in advance of a meeting concerning its financial circumstances as an example. The nondisclosure agreements were first reported by Axios and confirmed by NOTUS.
Why would anyone want to put these guys in charge of the government?
