Citizen has quietly brought two of its latest monochrome Nighthawk chronographs to the US, months after they debuted in other markets. The $575 CA0897-04H and $595 CA0890-54H share the same Eco-Drive movement and cockpit-inspired design, but offer different case finishes and strap options.
Alongside the new Promaster Seahawk diver inspired by the MH-60R helicopter, Citizen has quietly brought two new Nighthawk pilot watches to the US. The Nighthawk CA0890-54H, which first launched in Canada in June, features a stainless steel bracelet, while the CA0897-04H sports a nylon strap and has so far been available only in the UK and Canada.
The new Nighthawk watches are now officially up for grabs on Citizen’s US website, with the CA0890-54H priced at $595. Meanwhile, the nylon strap model will set you back $575.
The bracelet-equipped CA0890-54H pairs a silver-tone stainless steel case with a lighter gray dial, while the CA0897-04H goes for a more tactical look with its black case, a dark gray dial, and a matching gray nylon strap.
The subdial layout consists of a 1/5-second chronograph register at 12 o’clock, a 24-hour display at 9 o’clock, and running seconds at 6 o’clock. You also get a date window at 3 o’clock, a tachymeter scale for calculating speed over distance, and 100 meters of water resistance for worry-free swimming.
On the inside, the duo runs on Citizen’s B612 Eco-Drive solar movement, and as you’d expect from an Eco-Drive watch, there’s no need to worry about regular battery replacement, as both timepieces can recharge from natural or artificial light.
It’s worth noting that these Nighthawk watches aren’t part of the Promaster series, as evidenced by the lack of the signature Promaster logo on the crown.
