Jake Paul was bloodied by a YouTuber in his debut boxing fight before going pro

Jake Paul has come a long way from his boxing debut as he prepares to face a former world champion.

The YouTuber has switched seamlessly to professional boxing and has had a number of high-profile fights over the last few years.

Jake Paul famously beat Mike Tyson in his last bout, and took on top fighters like Tommy Fury and Nate Diaz in big-money fights too.

Paul’s next fight is against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, which is a far cry from him being covered in blood when fighting a fellow YouTube star in his first fight.

Jake Paul was bloodied by Deji in his amateur boxing debut

Back in 2018, Paul was part of one of the first YouTuber boxing events.

The amateur boxing event amassed 1.3 million PPV buys from fans desperate to see Paul’s brother, Logan Paul, battle KSI in a massive YouTube vs. YouTuber fight.

However, their brothers were fighting in the co-main event. The younger Paul took on Deji, with both men fighting in the boxing ring for the first time.

The lack of experience showed in the fight. What started out as a tentative and nervous affair devolved into a wild brawl, with very little ring IQ on show.

A big shot in the first round rocked Paul, and blood began flowing from his nose for the remainder of the fight. His face was covered in claret from the middle of the round, and Deji threatened to beat his much larger opponent in this mismatch.

The rest of the fight was very back and forth, although the power, accuracy, and conditioning helped him to get on top and stay there.

It took until the fifth round before the fight finally finished. A flurry of punches pushed Deji into the corner before his trainers had seen enough, throwing in the towel and awarding Paul a victory on his debut.

Jake Paul has come a long way since his debut win

After winning his amateur debut with a bloody nose, Paul improved incredibly quickly when he moved into professional fighting.

Just four years after his win over Deji, the YouTube star racked up wins over Tyron Woodley, Ben Askren, and Anderson Silva as he sought to prove his boxing credentials.

Over the next few years, Paul added names like Diaz and Tyson to his list of opponents. Fury is the only person to have beaten the American, who continues to impress every time he steps into the ring.

Paul’s next bout is on June 27, when he takes on former World Middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

This is expected to be the Mexican’s final fight, after he turned down a chance to face KSI to take on Paul in the big-money bout.
