The First Amendment prohibits the government from abridging “the right of the people peaceably to assemble.” When that right is being violated by a militia sponsored by the federal government with arms terrorizing and killing people, you might want to stop assembling without arms.
INVOKE THE 2ND AMENDMENT
Sounds crazy, but consider what the 2nd amendment was really designed for. We love our guns for a reason. The 2nd amendment was not designed so much for individuals to defend themselves but rather for the states to have a regulated militia to defend themselves against a tyrannical federal government. They were clearly afraid of central power. I don’t think it says anything about guns, but rather ’arms’. If you were SCOTUS Justice Scalia the textualist, you might define it exactly as the founders stated it, the states would get ‘arms’ like cruise missiles and nuclear arms as well. Do they get an Air Force too those certainly could be considered, ‘arms’!
The founders were aristocrats so I am not sure how much they cared about individuals, especially the slaves. What they were concerned with was too much federal power and the ability of a colony to defend itself against a tyrannical federal government, especially the slave colonies.
The idea was if the government got tyrannical and attacked a colony, every able-bodied white male in the colony would come to defend the colony with his musket. Yeah! Get your muskets Minnesota! No muskets? Oh well, I’m sure Minnesota has lots of shot guns and deer rifles. If you are short on military type weapons, Chicago and Illinois is not far away.
The risk/reward end of that strategy might just be too high so I would reccomend before you execute that strategy first empty the streets — shelter in place. Warn the fed’s if the tyranny continues after that and we return to the streets, we will be armed.
These are not trained police. They are a bunch of goons who got a $50,000 bonus to run around the country playing cops and terrorize citizens. If what they were doing had social redeeming value they would not have to wear masks. This method of immigration control was already tried in Arizona with a tinhorn sheriff, Joe Arpaio. The federal courts gutted the ’Papers Please’ law but Sheriff Joe continued the unlawful violation of arresting legal citizens who looked Mexican. Joe went to jail for his unlawful activity. Then Trump pardoned him. So, in fact the current administration is violating a Federal court Precedent.
The real sad part is way too many voters in the other 49 states did not know that. We’re lucky if half of them could even tell you who their state senators are. So the voters gave the green flag to fascism, electing people who would attempt to do the same thing in 50 states with even more first amendment violations. Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s goons, to my knowledge, did not shoot anyone dead.
It is my understanding democracy requires an informed citizenry! Funny thing about liberty. Almost everyone wants their liberty but way too many are focused on taking away other peoples’ liberty. Is it American exceptionalism or is it:
America the ignorant?
Know what is going on in other states. Politicians use other states as a political football to divide you and obtain votes. They almost never suggest to take the best and leave the rest. They will talk and act like all those California people are bad you don’t want that in your State.
Please understand our constitution. You can take some classes at a local community college. Include a couple of economic classes as well so you don’t get snookered by someone who tells you he will reduce prices and make things more affordable. That is not possible with our economic system. You cannot reduce prices significantly across most products without significant pain for someone. If it is done with deflation, the pain is high by the people who own the assets. That’s why the fed continues to fight for 3% inflation. One, they don’t want a death spiral depression but still, they are working for those who own the assets. Donors. Oh yeah, and homeowners who want prices to go down but not on there home!
